Announcing Convergence: A new Annual Open Science Conference

Open Science is evolving into a broader, more connected movement with an emerging shared vision and implementation framework that will accelerate research progress. To catalyze this convergence, the open science community is launching a new conference to bring together those working on a new research and research sharing paradigm. The event will focus on knitting together aligned and overlapping initiatives under a common framework that provides pathways for collective action, rather than splintered efforts. Convergence will also offer a wide range of educational and networking opportunities for open science careerists, advocates, innovators, and practitioners. The conference is open to all registrants and accommodations will be made to meet the community’s needs.

Convergence Conference itself will be held in Montreal on June 16-18 2027, immediately following Metascience. Details will be announced soon.

Get Involved

In preparation, we are seeking input from organizations across the ecosystem and nominations to the organizing committees (see below). We are also looking for input on naming, if you have any ideas! Please complete the expression of interest form below to indicate your support and to be kept in the loop as planning progresses.

As we get up and running, we will assemble a representative Program Committee that will democratically fill various themes and tracks across open science and adjacent topical areas. An Operations Committee will manage logistics and accounting, and a Development Committee will collect sponsorship and donations to fund the event to help keep registration costs low. 

We are committed to making this an event of, by and for the Open Science community, and your participation is crucial to meeting that goal.
